One part of Myrtle Beach is moving a lot faster than the rest

Rates topped 7% in September, according to Realtor.com. That slowed a lot of markets. But not every corner of Myrtle Beach slowed the same way.

The Real Estate Data Aggregator tracked four Myrtle Beach ZIP codes for the three months ending August 31, 2026. One of them, 29575, looks pretty different from the others. Here's what the numbers say.

29575 (Surfside Beach area): the fastest of the four

The Real Estate Data Aggregator counted 192 homes sold in 29575 in the three months ending August 31, 2026. That's down 9% from the same period in 2025. Fewer sales, sure. But the homes that did sell moved fast.

The Real Estate Data Aggregator shows 27% of listings in 29575 went under contract within two weeks. That's up 3.7 points from a year ago. Nearly 3 in 10 homes didn't last long on the market at all.

Median days on market in 29575 came in at 59 days, per the Real Estate Data Aggregator. That's 41 days shorter than the same stretch in 2025. That kind of drop in one year is real.

Inventory fell hard too. The Real Estate Data Aggregator counted 310 homes for sale in 29575, down 25.5% from a year ago. Fewer choices for buyers usually means less time to think.

How the other three ZIPs compare

The rest of Myrtle Beach is moving too, just slower. Here's how the four ZIPs stack up on the two things that matter most: speed and supply.

29579 (Carolina Forest area): tight supply, strong ratio

29579 has the tightest supply of the four. The Real Estate Data Aggregator put months of supply at 3.6, down from 4.4 a year ago. Sellers there got 97% of list price on average, the highest of any ZIP here.

Median days on market in 29579 came in at 63, per the Real Estate Data Aggregator. That's 35 days shorter than the same period in 2025. The median sale price was $369,900, down 5.2% from a year ago. Price dipped a little, but homes still moved.

29577 and 29572: more inventory, more time

29577, the large central Myrtle Beach ZIP, had 961 homes for sale and 7.4 months of supply, per the Real Estate Data Aggregator. Median days on market was 100. Prices came in at $250,000, down 3.8% from 2025.

29572, covering the northern beach area, showed 8.5 months of supply and a median of 107 days on market. The Real Estate Data Aggregator did note one bright spot: homes sold there were up 10.6% from a year ago, and the median sale price held flat at $300,000.

The wider picture

Nationally, the National Association of Realtors reported existing-home sales fell 2.0% in August 2026. Year-to-date through August, sales were up 1.6%, so it's not all bad. National supply sat at 4.9 months.

Across all four Myrtle Beach ZIPs together, the Real Estate Data Aggregator counted 1,300 homes sold in the three months ending August 31, 2026. That's down 7.5% from a year ago. Inventory dropped too: 2,473 homes for sale, down 16.5%.

Fewer listings and fewer sales at the same time usually means the market is still finding its level. Not a crash, not a frenzy. Just a market sorting itself out.

One more thing worth knowing if you're buying from out of state. In Horry County, a primary residence is taxed significantly lower than a second home or investment property. Worth asking about before you pick a price point.

In short
  1. 29575 moved fastest in the three months ending August 31, 2026: 59 median days on market, 27% of homes under contract within two weeks, and prices up 9%.
  2. 29579 had the tightest supply at 3.6 months.
  3. 29577 and 29572 had more inventory and more time.
  4. Rates above 7% (Realtor.com) made everyone a little more careful, but some parts of Myrtle Beach still moved.

One last thing: these are ZIP-level numbers. One street can read very differently from the whole ZIP. If you want to know what's happening on your block specifically, just ask.
