Murrells Inlet homes are moving faster than last year
Here's the thing about Murrells Inlet right now. Rates are high. Realtor.com says they pushed above 7% for the first time since January 2025. That's real. But buyers here are still showing up, and homes are selling faster than they did a year ago. The Real Estate Data Aggregator counted 361 homes sold in ZIP 29576 in the three months ending August 31, 2026. That's up 28% from the same stretch in 2025.
The Real Estate Data Aggregator put the median days on market at 74 in ZIP 29576. That's 40 days shorter than the same period last year. Forty days. That's not a small shift. If you're selling, your window of peak attention is early. Price it right from day one.
The first two weeks are doing a lot of work
The Real Estate Data Aggregator found that 25.9% of homes in ZIP 29576 went under contract within two weeks of listing, in the three months ending August 31, 2026. That's up 4.9 points from a year before. So roughly 1 in 4 homes is gone before most buyers even get comfortable. If you're buying, you've got to be ready.
What about price?
The Real Estate Data Aggregator put the median sale price in ZIP 29576 at $399,000 for the three months ending August 31, 2026. That's down 1.2% from the same period in 2025. A small dip, not a freefall. Sellers are still getting 97.2% of their list price on average. And 6.1% of homes sold above list, up 2.5 points from a year ago. So the right home, priced well, can still get a strong number.
Less inventory, more competition
The Real Estate Data Aggregator counted 448 homes for sale in ZIP 29576 during the three months ending August 31, 2026. That's down 27% from the same period in 2025. Supply dropped to 3.8 months, down 2.9 months from a year before. Less to choose from means buyers feel the pressure more. Sellers have some leverage, even with rates where they are.
Nationally, the picture is a little softer. The National Association of Realtors reported existing-home sales reached 3.99 million units in September 2026, up 1.5% from the month before. And the Federal Housing Finance Agency said U.S. house prices rose 2.4% from August 2025 to August 2026. The Inlet's numbers are holding up well against that backdrop.
- Rates are above 7% (Realtor.com), but Murrells Inlet is moving.
- Sales are up 28%, days on market dropped 40 days, and nearly 1 in 4 homes goes under contract in the first two weeks.
- Prices dipped a little, 1.2% down, but sellers are still landing 97.2% of list.
- The market rewards being ready, on both sides.
One more thing. These numbers cover all of ZIP 29576. One street, one condo building, one community can read very differently from the ZIP as a whole. Barefoot Resort vibes different from a quiet cul-de-sac off Highway 17. Your specific spot matters.
